  1. Quick Start

  3. Install MacTCP
  4.  
  5. Create a Plan file
  6.    Modify the Example Plan to suit your taste.
  7.    Rename it and put it somewhere sensible
  8.       (eg, call it Plan and put it in the Preferences folder in the System Folder)

  10. Using Finger
  11.    Launch Finger
  12.    Choose Preferences and click the Plan button.
  13.    Select your plan file.
  14.    Click the Save button.
  15.    You can now be fingered by anyone on the internet as long as Finger is running.
  16.    Finger other people by choosing Fingerâ•” from the File menu.
  17.    Valid finger addresses are added to the Finger hierarchical menu.  You can save this menu by choosing Save Finger Menu from the File menu.

  19. Using Fingerd
  20.    You may decide you want to be able to be fingered all the time, but rarely finger other people.  Fingerd provides this ability, and uses only 40k (whereas Finger uses 100+k). If you want to do this, follow these steps:
  21.    In Finger, choose Preferences.
  22.    Click the Plan button, and select your plan file.
  23.    Click the Plan Enabled check box off to disable Finger's Daemon.  
  24.    Click the Save button.
  25.    Move Fingerd to the Startup Folder in the System Folder.
  26.    Launch Fingerd (or reboot).
  27.    Your mac can now be fingered.
